Terms of service page hero for CatDNA Test Canada
This page explains the rules around using the site and services in plain-language terms.

Core terms

Using the site and placing an order

These rules apply to website use, direct purchases, sample handling, support, and laboratory services coordinated through CatDNA Test Canada.

Eligibility and authority

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of legal majority in your province or territory to place an order.

By ordering, you confirm that you own the animal or have permission from the owner to arrange testing and submit the sample.

Accurate information

You must provide complete and accurate customer, animal, payment, delivery, and contact information.

Incorrect or incomplete information may delay kit dispatch, sample allocation, testing, or report delivery.

Lawful website use

You agree to use the site lawfully and in a way that does not interfere with security, availability, ordinary operation, or the experience of other users.

Order acceptance

Submitting an order does not automatically mean it has been accepted. We may reject, hold, or cancel an order because of availability, payment issues, pricing errors, missing information, suspected fraud, legal restrictions, or laboratory requirements.

Information and testing

Educational content is not veterinary advice

CatDNA Test Canada publishes information about feline genetic screening, inherited conditions, allergy testing, intolerance screening, microbiome testing, biological-age reports, sample collection, pricing, turnaround times, and result interpretation.

Website content is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It is not veterinary advice, veterinary diagnosis, medical advice, legal advice, breeding certification, pedigree certification, or a guarantee of a particular result.

Contact a licensed veterinarian if your cat is unwell, showing symptoms, experiencing a possible allergic reaction, or requires diagnosis or treatment.

Choose the correct test

You are responsible for selecting a test that matches the question you want answered.

  • Review the complete product description.
  • Confirm what conditions, allergens, traits, or report categories are included.
  • Check the required sample type.
  • Confirm whether veterinary collection is required.
  • Review the estimated laboratory turnaround.
  • Check for registration or activation requirements.

Service roles

Our role and the laboratory’s role

CatDNA Test Canada coordinates the customer service, while independent providers may perform technical, laboratory, fulfilment, payment, and delivery functions.

CatDNA Test Canada

We may manage customer orders, payments, kit fulfilment, case submission, customer support, case updates, and delivery of reports.

Independent laboratories

Laboratory analysis, technical processing, sample allocation, and preparation of reports may be performed by independent laboratories.

Other service providers

Payment processors, fulfilment providers, postal services, couriers, website providers, and customer-support providers may assist with the transaction and service.

Important: CatDNA Test Canada does not itself perform laboratory analysis. We coordinate with qualified providers as necessary to complete the service ordered by the customer.

Prices, currency, and taxes

Unless another currency is clearly stated, prices are displayed in Canadian dollars.

The price displayed during checkout applies to the order, subject to correction of an obvious technical or pricing error.

Prices may change without notice. A later price change will not normally affect an order already accepted.

Additional charges

The displayed product price may not include shipping, return postage, applicable taxes, customs charges, veterinary collection, replacement kits, recollection, retesting, or optional services unless expressly included.

Charges collected by CatDNA Test Canada will be shown before payment is completed.

Customer delivery responsibilities

  • Provide a complete customer name.
  • Include the full street address and unit number.
  • Use the correct city, province, and postal code.
  • Provide an active email address and telephone number.
  • Review delivery details before completing checkout.

Kit delivery

Shipping and delivery

Testing kits may be prepared and shipped by CatDNA Test Canada or directly by an independent fulfilment provider.

Delivery estimates are not guarantees. Postal or courier delivery time is separate from laboratory turnaround time.

We are not responsible for delays or additional expenses caused by an incorrect or incomplete address, refusal of delivery, failure to collect a shipment, customs processing, severe weather, or inaccurate contact information.

Tracking information will be supplied when available. Not every standard postal shipment includes complete tracking.

If a package is returned because of an incorrect address, failed delivery, refusal, or failure to collect it, an additional shipping fee may apply before it is sent again.

Sample responsibilities

Collection, consent, and return

Testing can only proceed correctly when the required sample is collected, labelled, packaged, and returned according to the instructions supplied with the kit.

1

Collect correctly

Depending on the product, the required sample may include a cheek swab, blood, hair, stool, or another test-specific specimen.

2

Complete the case details

Label samples accurately, complete required forms, and register or activate the kit when instructed.

3

Return to the correct location

Use the return address provided with the kit. Do not send samples to our general business address unless the instructions specifically direct you to do so.

Blood-based tests may require collection by a veterinarian or another qualified professional. Unless the product page expressly states otherwise, professional collection fees are the customer’s responsibility.

Authority and consent

By submitting a sample, you confirm that you own the animal or have permission from the owner to arrange testing.

You authorize CatDNA Test Canada and its laboratories and service providers to receive, handle, store, process, analyze, report on, and dispose of the sample as reasonably necessary to perform the ordered service.

Additional forms, declarations, animal information, or identification may be required for certain products.

Sample return and shipping risk

You are responsible for arranging return shipment unless the product description expressly states that return shipping is included.

Keep all tracking information until delivery has been confirmed.

CatDNA Test Canada and its providers are not responsible for a returned sample before its receipt is confirmed at the designated laboratory or processing location.

Processing

Laboratory turnaround times

Published turnaround times are estimates stated in laboratory working days unless otherwise indicated.

When turnaround begins

Turnaround begins only after the correct laboratory receives and accepts the sample, all required forms and case information are complete, and any outstanding payment has been settled.

What is not included

Kit delivery, sample collection, veterinary appointments, return shipping, weekends, public holidays, customs processing, and recollection are not included in the laboratory turnaround period.

Results may be delayed by sample quality, batching, confirmatory testing, laboratory workload, equipment issues, supply interruptions, holidays, shipping problems, or events outside our reasonable control. A stated turnaround is not a guaranteed report-delivery date.

Results and reports

Reports are normally delivered electronically using the email address, customer account, or laboratory account associated with the order.

You are responsible for providing an accurate email address and checking your inbox, spam folder, and account notifications.

Some products require direct kit activation through a laboratory platform. Where applicable, updates and results may be delivered through that platform.

Limits of report scope

Reports are based on the submitted sample, laboratory method, included markers, allergens, organisms, traits, and available reference information.

No test provides information outside the advertised scope of the selected product.

Results may be inconclusive or affected by sample quality, genetic background, reference populations, environmental factors, and current scientific knowledge.

Order changes

Cancellations, returns, replacements, and refunds

Contact support as soon as possible if you need to cancel or correct an order. Eligibility depends on the order status and applicable consumer law.

Before fulfilment begins

An order may be eligible for cancellation and refund when the request is received before the kit has been prepared or dispatched and before a laboratory case, registration, activation, or customized service has been created.

After dispatch or activation

Once a kit has been dispatched, opened, registered, activated, used, or connected to a laboratory case, some or all charges may become non-refundable, except where a refund is required by law.

After laboratory processing begins

Once laboratory processing has started, the testing fee is generally non-refundable unless the service cannot be completed because of a confirmed laboratory error or another circumstance requiring a refund by law.

Wrong or damaged kit

If the wrong kit is supplied or a kit arrives materially damaged, contact us promptly with the order details and photographs where reasonably possible. We will review the issue and provide an appropriate remedy when verified.

A refund is not normally provided because a customer selected the wrong test, failed to return a sample, did not follow the instructions, received an unexpected or inconclusive result, or expected information outside the advertised product scope. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Direct website orders

Products purchased through the CatDNA Test Canada checkout are direct website orders. These terms, the product page, checkout information, and any order-specific instructions apply.

External purchases

A purchase completed entirely on another seller’s website is governed by that seller’s prices, payment, delivery, return, privacy, and support policies.

Third-party providers

Independent laboratories and fulfilment providers may apply their own technical, collection, safety, and case-processing procedures when performing their part of the service.

Affiliate disclosure

Some pages may contain affiliate links. If you follow an affiliate link and complete an eligible purchase on a third-party website, we may receive a commission or other compensation.

Affiliate compensation does not make CatDNA Test Canada the seller of a transaction completed entirely on another website.

Where appropriate, the commercial relationship may also be disclosed near the relevant link, comparison, product, or recommendation.

Reviews and comparison content

Comparisons may consider price, advertised scope, sample type, published methodology, turnaround estimates, available documentation, and customer experience.

Prices, products, promotions, methods, and availability may change after publication.

Customer reviews describe individual experiences and do not guarantee the same result for another customer.

  • Use support and contact resources.
  • Share links to publicly available pages.

Restricted conduct

  • Copying or commercially exploiting substantial website content without permission.
  • Scraping or harvesting website or customer information.
  • Attempting unauthorized access to accounts, servers, payment systems, or administrative areas.
  • Interfering with website security, performance, or availability.
  • Submitting false, fraudulent, abusive, defamatory, or unlawful information.

Intellectual property

The website’s original text, graphics, design, page layouts, logos, comparison tables, and other content are owned by or licensed to Cansoft Technologies Corp and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Third-party trademarks, product names, reports, and materials remain the property of their respective owners.

User submissions

When you submit a question, correction, review, image, document, or other material, you confirm that you have the right to submit it.

You allow us to use the submission as reasonably necessary to respond, investigate an issue, process an order, prevent fraud, or operate and improve the site.

Website availability

We may update, suspend, remove, or discontinue a page, feature, product, or service. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or compatibility with every device or browser.

Changes to products

Laboratories may update methods, markers, report formats, sample requirements, or turnaround estimates. We may update product pages to reflect those changes.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delays caused by severe weather, natural disasters, public emergencies, labour disputes, government action, customs, carrier disruption, supply interruption, or similar events outside our reasonable control.

Complaints and informal resolution

Contact us through the Contact page if you have a concern about an order, shipment, sample, report, payment, disclosure, website statement, or these terms.

Include your order number or case reference where available. We may request photographs, tracking details, kit information, or other evidence needed to investigate.

Both parties agree to make a reasonable effort to resolve a dispute informally before starting formal proceedings.

Applicable law

These terms and transactions with Cansoft Technologies Corp are governed by the applicable laws of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.

Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer rights available in the customer’s province or territory.

Where applicable law gives a customer the right to bring a claim in another province or territory, that right remains unaffected.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the site, products, laboratories, fulfilment arrangements, business practices, or legal requirements change.

Changes apply prospectively and will not retroactively alter the price or material terms of an order already accepted.

Severability and no waiver

If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply.

If we do not immediately enforce a provision, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.

Entire agreement

These terms, the Privacy Policy, product description, checkout disclosures, order confirmation, and written product-specific instructions form the agreement for the site and purchased service.

Need clarification on this policy?

Use the contact page for questions about these terms, direct website orders, shipping, sample processing, reports, disclosures, or correction requests. Include your order number and laboratory case reference when available.
